It is celebration time for IFFCO when Fortune India 500 yet again ranked the largest fertilizer cooperative as the top most company in Fertilizer and Agro Chemicals industries in the country. Besides this, in overall companies ranking IFFCO ended at 68th positions in fortune India 500.
IFFCO MD’s tweet announcing IFFCO’s feat was greeted by a barrage of congratulatory messages. The fertilizer titan has proved that from domestic soil to the global platform it remains unassailable by its rivals. Besides IFFCO, companies UPL and National Fertilizer stood at 2nd and 3rd positions in the Fortune list.
Announcing the news, Managing Director Dr U S Awasthi who has been working hard to take the cooperative giant to greater heights tweeted “Happy to share that #IFFCO is again Ranked number 1, the top place in the #Fertiliser & #AgroChemical industries in #India by @FortuneMagazine. @FortuneIndia 500 list #IFFCO is in top 100 & ranked 68th in overall all companies ranking.Committed to farmers & #cooperative service.”
After sharing the news on Social Media, the MD’s followers on twitter greeted him and said it’s a matter of pride for farmers and cooperatives of India. One of his followers tweeted “Sir, really a good news and congratulations for your best leadership. Thanks God for doing so good through you”. Another follower wrote, “It’s a Great news!! Congratulations @drusawasthi and IFFCO Team!! We are proud to work under Your Leadership Sir!!”
The rankings are based on many factors such as innovation, people management, use of corporate assets, financial soundness, long-term investment and global competitiveness.
The list of Fortune 500 Indian companies is compiled annually by the Magazine’s Indian edition. A press release mailed by its media head Harshendra Verdhan read “World’s largest cooperative in fertiliser sector; IFFCO has retained its number 1 position in Fertiliser & Agro Chemical sectors. IFFCO consistently maintaining its top position in the list of Fortune 500 companies in India. IFFCO stands at 68th position in this year ranking of Fortune India 500. It is the only cooperative in the country to figure in the top 100 list. – a matter of huge satisfaction for the co-operative societies attached to it.”
It bears recall that recently, IFFCO stood number 1 out of 300 global cooperatives in a global report by World Cooperative Monitor of International Cooperative Alliance.

In 2017-18, last financial year IFFCO produced 84.79 Lakh MT fertilisers with Turnover of 20,788 Crores. IFFCO also holds a strong position in International Fertilizer Association and has a Global Board Seat in International Cooperative Alliance.
