IFFCO’s hashtag on farmers a big hit on social media

On the occasion of World Food Day the leading Indian cooperative federation representing close to 5.5 crores of farmers IFFCO chose a unique way of expressing its thanks to them. It launched a hastag “let’s say #ThankYouKisan.”

IFFCOlive.com created a separate page for the event and wrote touching lines about farmers. Supporting the cause IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi wrote “Let’s salute our #farmer who is behind all the #food we eat.This #WorldFoodDay let’s say #ThankYouKisan, Awasthi tweet reads.

IFFCO’s #ThankYouKisan” trended whole of Sunday as many including NSA Ajit Doval used this hashtag to salute farmers for their contribution. Several dailies including Economic Times used this hashtag to thank the farmers.

IFFCOLive wrote” The food we eat. The clothes we wear. The air we breathe. The love we get in so many ways. All of it exists because of the toil of the champions of soil – the farmers. In India, we call them Kisan.”

It further said “In summer, fighting the sweltering heat they harvest crops. In winter, withstanding the biting cold they irrigate the fields. Just so that we don’t fall short of happiness and healthy lives.”

“These unsung heroes, these farmers deserve every bit of our gratitude. This World Food Day, let’s thank them for everything they do for us. In a picture, in a piece of text, in a video, let’s send them a message saying #ThankYouKisan!”, it concluded.

Ram Vilas Paswan Food Minister tweeted” Today is World Food Day and Govt. of India reiterates its resolve to ensure availability of food under National Food Security Act to all.”

Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh also shared his message through social media and said “I congratulate farmers on this occasion of World Food Day. The farmers not only make country self-sufficient but also export their produce to different countries so as to contribute to the world in the field of nutrition’.
