In a bid to reach out to farmers on their doorstep, IFFCO Tokio launched micro insurance together with the govt of Utttar Pradeh in Safai- the home of Samjwadi Party patron Mulayam Singh Yadav in the Etawah district of the state on Saturday.
Shiv Pal Singh Yadav, State cooperative and irrigation minister and father of IFFCO’s youngest Director and an ICA Board member Aditya Yadav launched the ambitious micro-finance policies for the benefit of the farmers.
IFFCO MD Dr. U S Awasthi who is recuperating from viral fever lost no time in thanking the UP strongman. Awasthi tweeted” Thank you @shivpalsinghyad for launching @IFFCO__TOKIO micro insurance policy.”
Besides Aditya, several other directors including Sheesh Pal Singh, Raj Kumar Tripathy along with IFFCO Tokio officials such as H O Suri, Rajeev Chaudhary were present on the occasion.
Iffco Tokio’s micro-insurance initiatives are driven by the vision of its parent company IFFCO which seeks to
improve the quality of life of the Indian farmers. Rather than merely downscaling existing products, it has leveraged IFFCO’s experience of the rural market to craft a product basket designed specifically for the agricultural sector, claims the Insurance major in its website.
Some of the products are Jan Kalyan Bima, Jan Suraksha Bima, Janta Bima Yojana, Kisan Suvidha Bima and Pashu Dhan Bima Yojana.
Jan Kalyan Bima has been devised with the aim of providing a comprehensive cover for all needs of farmers – marginal and small, labor class and rural households principally involved in agriculture and allied activities and people engaged in unorganized sectors of urban economy, so that a comprehensive cover for all perils this class is exposed to, can be provided.
