IFFCO to hold election by December

Dr G N Saxena, Director of Cooperative Relations in IFFCO announced in the 40th Annual General Meeting held on Thursday that the elections in the largest cooperative behemoth would take place by December of the current year.

Talking to Indian Cooperative later Dr Saxena explained that it would be gigantic exercise as the elections proceed in three layers. First, delegates are elected from among the member societies. The elected delegates elect their leader who is called Director and would be on Iffco Board. The Directors elects Chairman either by voting or by Consensus, Saxena explained.

The 40th AGM of Iffco was also notable for emphasizing on increasing the women participation in the cooperative federation. Addressing the delegates IFFCO MD U S Awasthi said that a special AGM may be called before the election to deliberate on the issue.

Other highlights included members’ desire to visit Oman plant of Iffco. M D assured them of sending a batch of 10 members at a time and asked them to go ahead with getting their passports ready.

The delegates also raised the issue of covering them with health insurance. IFFKO-TOKIA Marketing Director H Shourie was called in who explained the options before the members and assured of giving them a coverage of Rs 30,000 for a family of four members.

AGM announced a dividend of 20 percent- a feat achieved by Iffco for the 12th year this time. Delegates were also showered with gifts including a gold-coin of five gram for the fifth consecutive year. Explaining this Dr Saxena said that this is IFFCO’s way of helping out the farmers in the marriage of their daughters.
