IFFCO sets new precedent; MD makes virtual tour of Aonla Unit

As in the case of setting a new benchmark in organizing AGM in Covid times, IFFCO has successfully organized virtual tours of manufacturing units where its MD Dr U S Awasthi interacted with different sections of the plant and exchanged notes.

Calling it a novel concept which can be copied not only by cooperatives but also Corporate, IFFCO officials say that the whole exchange was akin to physical visit and heralds a new era of overseeing Plants during the Covid times.

Ever since the pandemic hit the world, Dr Awasthi, like many others, has restricted himself from visiting fertilizer units spread across the country.  “He was constantly wondering how best to compensate for the loss and then this idea of virtual tour hit him”, said Harshendra Verdhan, IFFCO PR Head giving details of the live views and many other equipment being used in the virtual tour.

Now our MD undertakes virtual visits sitting at his office in Saket, Delhi with the help of technology, he added. When Indian Cooperative tried to contact Dr Awasthi, the MD was busy in yet another virtual tour.

Starting with IFFCO’s Uttar Pradesh based Aonla Unit, MD spent two days, virtually touring the Unit. He visited various sections of the manufacturing units and interacted with the officials and employees.

During the visit, Awasthi also visited Cooperative garden, Ammonia 1 control room, Urea 1 control room and other locations. Interestingly, during his virtual visit, Awasthi followed the tradition of feeding the fishes in the aquarium in the control room in Aonla Plant.

The IFFCO MD also took stock of the situation of the quality of Neem Coated Urea. Senior General Manager Rakesh Puri provided him with the information about the Nano plant. After the inspection, Awasthi interacted with the young professionals, the newly elected officials, union leaders and employees.

Sharing the details of his visit through social media, the IFFCO MD wrote, ” During my virtual tour to #IFFCO #Aonla, I also interacted with the young professionals of the unit. I always do one to one interaction with young professionals in all my visits to units. An interaction of knowledge, expertise, experience & commitment”.

Besides, the IFFCO MD saw the loading and unloading of urea bags. The photos taken on the occasion show laborers loading the urea bags from godown into the trains.
