IFFCO Nehru Lecture: Marathe and Mostafa bag awards

The IFFCO Sahakarita Ratna award was presented to Satish Marathe, President of Sahakar Bharati and the IFFCO Sahakarita Bandhu award was presented to Mostafa Sardar, a cooperator from West Bengal on the occasion of 28th Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial IFFCO Lecture.

Both of them profusely thanked IFFCO for the recognition. A cheque of Rs 5 lakh was presented to each along with shawls and shields, among other things.

Mostafa Sardar thanked IFFCO especially Managing Director Dr U S Awasthi for giving this prestigious award. Sardar said IFFCO is the best organization in the marketing sector in India.” He was earlier on the IFFCO board and like a true IFFCO soldier carried IFFCO fertilizer even on bicycle in West Bengal in the past”, MD said introducing him to the audience.

In his speech Dr U S Awasthi praised the work done by Mostafa Sardar at the time when the West Bengal federation had been shut down and no one was there for marketing fertilisers.

Satish Marathe President of Sahakar Bharti another awardee thanked IFFCO and repeated as told to Indian Cooperative “I am humbled as I take this award on behalf of all the workers of Sahakar Bharti”.

Sahakar Bharati has been working for years to create a network of cooperatives and cooperators. On this day I remember the great man from Satara Mr Inamdar who motivated us to set up Sahakar Bharati, Marathe said.

”I would like to appeal to all the cooperators to rise above narrow considerations and work for the success of the movement”, he said.

The IFFCO Sahakarita Ratna & the Sahakarita Bandhu Awards are conferred on individual eminent cooperators who have rendered selfless service in the furtherance and development of the cooperative movement.
