IFFCO Nano DAP gets notified in Fertilizer Control Order; Cheers spread

In a major boost to IFFCO’s efforts, IFFCO’s Nano DAP has been approved by the Union Agriculture Ministry and notified in the Fertilizer Control Order (FCO) on Friday. Quick approval of Nano DAP in the wake of the successful roll out of Nano Urea across states, has filled the IFFCO family with uncontrollable joy.

Commenting on this development, IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi said, “IFFCO Nano DAP is approved by the Ministry of Agriculture & notified in the Fertiliser Control Order (FCO) based on its encouraging results. IFFCO will manufacture Nano DAP, a game changer for Indian agriculture & economy”.

The plant is being set up at Paradeep, Kalol and Kandla and the production is set to be started from July this year. In the last three months, IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi had been giving hints of its arrival in various meetings.

The plant is being set up at the cost of Rs 250 crore at IFFCO’s Kalo Unit in Gujarat and it will be fully automatic. It can produce 150 half liter bottles in a minute. And from 31 July 2023, production of Nano DAP would start in this plant.

The newly developed IFFCO Nano DAP will not only reduce the cost in comparison to conventional DAP but also cut down the subsidy. It is said that the one bottle of Nano DAP would cost around Rs 600.

Currently, the cost of one bag of conventional DAP is Rs1,350, while the actual cost of a bag is Rs 4,000. The gap between actual cost and prices paid by the farmers is borne by the government under the fertiliser subsidy head.

Before the government decision to allow commercial production of Nano DAP,IFFCO held large scale trials of this in different parts of the country. The farmers of Jaisalmer in Rajasthan used Nano DAP on wheat crops. It was also tried on the Barley crop in Hanumangarh, showing encouraging results.

Buoyed with the news of approval, IFFCO Chairman Dileepbhai Sanghani and Managing Director Dr U S Awasthi lost no time in sharing the details through social media.

In his tweet, Sanghani wrote, “A moment of pride as @AgriGoI approved & notified #IFFCONanoDAP in the Fertiliser Control Order (FCO) based on its brilliant results. IFFCO will manufacture #NanoDAPa game changer for agriculture, cooperatives & economy. Congratulations to all the officers and employees of IFFCO”.

Social Media users also reacted well. One of the users wrote, “Dr Awasthi and IFFCO always believe in creating history and next is to introduce Nano DAP to the whole world which is the start of a new era of the fertiliser industry. It is an eco-friendly fertiliser with more productivity which will in turn make farmers’ income double”.

Dr U S Awasthi, IFFCO MD who has put his entire career at stake for the successful launching of the Nano range of fertilizers is a happy man today. Earlier in an interview to the Indian Cooperative, he had hinted that his life’s mission would be complete if he is able to gift Nano a range of fertilizers to the country.
