It is almost final now. There are at least five candidates who face no challenges to their entry into one of the most prestigious cooperative boards in the country. These lucky cooperators are Nakai, Danga, Munshi, Radadiya and Pramod Kumar Singh.
While the outgoing Chairman Balwinder Singh Nakai has almost been reelected from Punjab which is Constituency Number one, Mangi Lal Danga has no rival from Rajasthan which is Constituency Number three.
Meanwhile, Ajay Patel a formidable cooperator from Gujarat who has filed his nomination has decided to withdraw. Though his name is there in the list, talking to Indian Cooperative Tuesday morning he said he has withdrawn in favor of Jayesh Radadiya.
Prem Chandra Munshi, the low profile cooperator from Bihar has also quietly made it to the board without any hassle. In the beginning, there seemed some doubt about him as rumours started doing the rounds that Biscomuan Chairman Sunil Singh may stake a claim.
But Singh denied having any such ambition. “I am with Kribhco and as you are aware of my DNA of unflinching loyalty, I can never ditch Kribhco where I am a Director. My relationship with Chandra Pal Singh and Bijender Singh is above everything else”, Sunil said to this corresponded boastfully.
Indian Cooperative has, however, gathered that Sunil Singh’s wife has been elected an RGB member of IFFCO this time. He himself is also an RGB member through Biscomaun.
From Constituency number nine which falls in Uttarakhand, Pramod Kumar Singh is set to win in the absence of any other candidate. “Singh would have won even in case of voting as the votes of functional Directors are vested in his constituency. “With his mild manners and a friendly image he was an obvious choice for many”, said one of the functional Directors to this correspondent.
At sharp 3 pm on Monday, following the election schedule — Mrs Madhavi of election team rushed to the reception area clutching a pile of papers displaying names of nominations against constituencies.
Madhavi pinned up the papers before this correspondent which soon attracted a large number of hopefuls to the notice board. “I am coming straight from Returning Officer’s chamber who has vetted the list”, said Madhavi smilingly.
The contest, however is going to be intense in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana-Delhi, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu-Kerala. There are also three names for the woman constituency.
