IFFCO: Media handling emphasized

harshendra-verdhanCorporates have realized long time back that it is an age of communication but cooperatives have yet to to keep tabs on this front. Breaking free of the co-operative tradition, IFFCO had its media and PR unit bracing-up for the emerging times.

IFFCO organized a three-day workshop for its team in Chandigarh. The workshop discussed the latest media tools and new-age media techniques, informed Mr Harshendra Vardhan, head of the Iffco media team. We have been conducting workshop every year but this time we planned to go out so that participants had a feel of the field, he added.

An IMC graduate, Harsh is credited with launching the Iffco in a big way in informal media- a potent source of communication. If his senior colleague Mr Ghanshyam Das was popular among journalists of the traditional media, Harsh is pop among users of Face book and Twitter.

His IMC background has helped the Iffco connect with a host of journalistic publications as the IMC graduates dominate the Delhi media circle. The Iffco’s activities are found in conversations in social networking sites thanks to Harsh’s efforts, say his colleagues. His attempt at setting up the IFFCO Live is one of his successful experiments, they recall.

About 30 participants drawn from the Iffco and its subsidiaries have participated in the Chandigarh workshop. The exercise helps the participants get informed with the latest as well as offer them invaluable tips about how to handle the media, Harshvardhan told Indian Cooperative.

Iffco MD Dr U S Awasthi who has grown fond of social media in recent times employed twitter to say “My best wishes to #iffco communication workshop to keep pace with new age tools”.

An equally social-media savvy Harshendra Vardhan took no time in responding “ # many thanks for your best wishes & guidance sir. We r also looking forward for innovations in #IFFCO Brand Communications.
