IFFCO: MD motivates staff to tackle draught head on

IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi who is on a tour meeting farmers and staff members of the cooperative behemoth landed in Maharashtra and Gujarat recently to take stock of the situation. Maharashtra is drought affected.

The centre on Tuesday sanctioned a Rs 3,049-crore financial package to tackle drought in Maharashtra. At a meeting in Delhi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Agriculture Minister Radhamohan Singh have agreed to allocate Rs 3,049 crore for Maharashtra to provide relief to farmers.

Awasthi feels that much more needs to be done in order to combat the drought situation in the state as was reflected in his tweet” Reviewed agriculture situation vi staff of #Maharashtra State needs new initiative & new technique 2 handle drought.”

MD was however appreciative of the local IFFCO staff for displaying unflinching commitment in tackling the situation arising out of drought in the state. He tweeted” Meeting with #IFFCO #Maharashtra staff in #Mumbai. Good 2 see d commitment towards #farmers #fields in commercial hub.”

Earlier he also interacted with the farmers of Gujarat. “Meeting farmers and giving them tips on the benefits of judicious fertilization is the core philosophy of IFFCO and the campaign is led by none other than the MD himself”, said Prem Chandra Munshi to this correspondent when the latter raised the matter with him in Patna.

Awasthi discussed new techniques of growing pomegranates and dates with the farmers of Gujarat as tweeted by him”With farmers of #Gujrat in #Cordet Kandla discussed new technique 2 produce #pomegranates & #dates saw big enthusiasm.”
