IFFCO MD meets Yogi and Ministers in Lucknow

Despite his busy schedule of meeting farmers across the country, IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi dashed to Lucknow Friday to meet the man who is hogging the headlines ever since he has assumed office as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

Awasthi met Adityanath Yogi and the two beamed in photographs later posted on social media. MD apprised Yogi of what the fertilizer cooperative is doing to improve the life of farmers.

Awasthi’s tweet on the issue read “Today met the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Made them aware about IFFCO and farmer service.”

IFFCO has huge stakes in the fertilizer off-take in the state.

Readers would recall that cooperators of all stripes are busy meeting Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath underscoring the need to bring the cooperative sector in the state back on the rails.

Making the most of his Lucknow visit Awasthi also held meetings with at least five Ministers in the state including two deputy chief ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma, Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap, Law Minister Rajesh Aggarwal and Cooperative Minister Mukut Bihari Verma.

Earlier, in an exclusive interview given to Indian Cooperative the newly appointed cooperative minister Mukut Bihari Verma said he is seized of the issues related to the state cooperative sector and has already adumbrated the idea of how he would mend the cooperative sector in the state. Awasthi in his meeting with the Cooperative Minister, expounded on various initiatives undertaken by IFFCO in the interest of farmers.

Recently, the Yogi government announced a loan waiver scheme for the farmers of UP which will benefit around 86 lakh small and marginal farmers of the state.

Readers would recall that earlier Sahakar Bharti Chief Jyotindra Mehta submitted a list to the chief minister that contained 18 to 20 points concerning cooperatives in the state.
