IFFCO: MD battles for parity with industries

iffco dr US  awasthiThe Managing Director of world’s largest farm cooperative IFFCO has demanded parity of farm sector with industry. Reacting to the RBI Economic Survey Dr U S Awasthi said that while several restrictions from industries have been removed, same is not true of the farm sector.

Battling for parity between farm and industry Dr Awasthi tweeted “RBI economic survey restriction on farmers to buy, sell & store their produce has not been removed even though restrictions on industry were removed.

IFFCO, however, appreciated Economy survey on many other fronts. The Managing Director said the govt is saying what Iffco had said all along for the past five years.

In the tweet Dr Awasthi says “ RBI economic survey on fertiliser & farmers reflect what we have been saying for last 5 yrs . Iffco wishes to thank RBI.

In a next tweet he says :  #RBI Economic survey restoring economic freedom of farmers& allowing them to compete in market is essential for controlling food inflation.

Appreciating the Railway budget presented by Union Railway Minister Sadanand Gowda Dr. U S Awasthi (@drusawasthi) tweeted “Congrats to #railway minister for out of box thinking It will create competition , generate jobs , create participation . Let us wish him luck.

Iffco MD did not forget to remind his view-points on the issue of subsidy and tweeted again advocating direct transfer of subsidy to the famrers. Dr. U S Awasthi tweeted “ iffco supports direct transfer of subsidies to beneficiary . It will reduce wastages , corruption , empower poor and marginal farmers.”

In another tweet on the issue an anguished MD said “ RBI economic survey 13-14 says fertilizer subsidy hurts everyone- farmers, firms, taxpayer & consumer. Iffco has same thinking. Let us change it.
