IFFCO: Kapur chairs International Conference in Berlin

Rakesh Kapur, IFFFCO Joint MD made his key note address in the 86th Annual Conference of International Fertilizer Association (IFA) taking place from 18-20 June in Berlin, Germany on Monday.

“I welcome you to Berlin-an amazing city steeped in history and at the same time wonderfully modern, vibrant and alive”, said Kapur welcoming participants. Kapur is also the President of IFA.

He spoke on issues such as future & importance of fertilisers in global agriculture, challenges of food system and advancements & innovations in plant nutrition, among others.

Applauding the role of fertilizer in food production Kapur said without fertilizer the food production would have dipped by half creating a chaos in the world as we would not have been able to feed the increasing population.

Kapur also cautioned the participants to get ready to face challenges in the times of newer innovations and unbelievable technological breakthroughs. “The fertilizer industry cannot afford to be lethargic “, he added.

Other key note speaker was Liam Condon, member of Bayer AG’s Management Board and President of its Crop Science Division, who is also serving as the present Chairman of CropLife International (the IFA equivalent for crop protection and biotech products), informed Kapur.

The Annual Conference would also feature sessions on the fertilizer demand and market outlook and presentation of the IFA2030 scenarios.
