IFFCO inks MoU with famed ADT in Baramati

During the foundation stone laying ceremony of Centre of Excellence on Dairy, the fertilizer cooperative IFFCO signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Maharashtra based Agricultural Development Trust (ADT) at KVK Baramati last week.

The foundation stone laying ceremony was held in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister of Netherlands Ms. Carola Schouten. On this occasion Deputy Prime Minister also visited the stalls setup by IFFCO where its Marketing Director Yogendra Kumar welcomed her with a bouquet of flowers and had a discussion on cooperative and farming. Former Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar was also present in the function.

Congratulating Yogendra Kumar, IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi wrote on social media, “Congratulations @iffcoyogendra Marketing Director, #IFFCO for establishing the strategic partnership project with Agriculture Development Trust at KVK Baramati. This will include training of farmers, conducting demonstration/trials of new crops and promoting services to farmers”.

The MoU between IFFCO and ADT has attracted experts’ attention due to its far-reaching consequences. While on the one hand this strategic contract would display IFFCO products to farmers through KVK centre, IFFCO staffs and farmers would get training from KVK on the other.

Some of the points included in the MoU stipulates “Capacity building and training of IFFCO farmers, growers, IFFCO Staff: total 6 batches @ 1 batch at 2 months interval for 40 participants. Demonstration in different vegetable under protected cultivation and open field based on available resources”.

According to this, KVK will allot 2 acres of land at Main KVK farm Baramati to exclusively for IFFCO Demo and will also conduct demonstration of IFFCO Product such as NPK, DAP, Urea and various water soluble fertilizers, bio fertilizers, Sagarika and IFFCO-MC Pesticides for crop such as Sugarcane, Wheat, Maize, Jowar, Banana etc. KVK will also conduct demo for three vegetables such as capsicum, cucumber and tomato”.

“Supply of IFFCO Agri inputs as integral part o the project-Conventional & WSF. Documentation of project initiatives and accomplishments. Sharing of test reports/quality report and feedback of IFFCO products. KVK will include all IFFCO Products into their crop literature”.

According to this agreement, IFFCO will provide one IFFCO Documentary film to KVK and KVK will show it all farmers those who are visiting KVK Baramati. IFFCO will also provide 30 seconds radio jingle which will be broadcasted through KVK run Sharada community radio station. ADT will give full exposure to IFFCO products through various exhibitions conducted by them.

A prior to the day of visit to Maharashtra, Ms. Carola Schouten, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, Netherlands met Union Minister of Agriculture Radha Mohan Singh in New Delhi and expressed happiness at the regular convening of Joint Working Group.

With an objective of agricultural educational and developments in the rural part of Pune district and around, the Agricultural Development Trust was established in the year 1971 in Baramati. Under the aegis of ADT, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and College of Agriculture and Allied Sciences have done commendable work in human resource development, capacity building and empowerment of farmers.
