IFFCO forays into north-east big time

Visiting remote areas of the north-east IFFCO team led by MD Dr U S Awasthi is beginning many firsts in an area so far largely untouched by both the govt and the media. Aizwal, Itanagar and Imphal-are still distant places. IFFCO team covered three states of the north-east- Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur igniting cooperative movement in the region.

As IFFCO’s PR head Harshendra said in his mail sent to Indian Cooperative” IFFCO in its drive to strengthen cooperatives in India is focusing more on the North East region of India. IFFCO will open its office in Itanagar – a base for Arunachal Pradesh. IFFCO Bazar will open its outlet to provide a one stop farmer services along with general Insurance. “

IFFCO MD Dr Awasthi wished PM Narendra Modi’s Crop Insurance be started for the benefit of farmers of the north east without delay. IFFCO has already announced a new company named SIFFCO in Gangtok to cater to the needs of organic fertilisers for north East farmers.

Aizwal , Itanagar and Imphal were 64th, 65th and 66th destinations of the IFFCO team respectively. Felicitating farmers, honouring cooperators, encouraging participation of women, organizing health check-ups and patronizing the local culture the IFFCO team took the north east region by storm.

In his election campaigns Narendra Modi would always refer to the north-east and would admit that enough has not been done for the region by the successive govts. While Corporates still fight sigh of investing in this region Cooperatives have made a beginning.

Visiting Aizwal- his 64th destination on Monday Dr U S Awasthi encouraged the participation of women in the cooperative movement. IFFCO had also put up an Exhibition specially dedicated to farmers where service for the farmers were displayed. A general health checkup camp was also organized on the occasion.

The farmers of Mizoram were also informed about organic and Bio-Fertilisers. Farmers and cooperators had came from different places of Mizoram to attend 50 years of the IFFCO celebrations.

Itanagar was the 65th destination of the IFFCO team where an exhibition specially dedicated to farmers was inaugurated on the occasion of 50 years of IFFCO programme. Hoisting the cooperative flag, IFFCO MD inaugurated a new chapter of the cooperative movement in the region.
