IFFCO: Ex foreign Secretary to give Nehru Lecture

The 28th Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Cooperative Lecture which fertilizer cooperative giant IFFCO organizes every year on the occasion of Cooperative week is scheduled for tomorrow at NCUI auditorium in the afternoon.

IFFCO has been enlisting eminent personalities to speak on Nehru and this time Nirupama Rao, Former Foreign Secretary, GOI and former Ambassador to China & USA is going to deliver the lecture. Namvar Singh, Karna Singh, Girish Karnard and several other notable persons have given Nehru Memorial Lecture in the past.

Nirupama Rao is the second woman (after Chokila Iyer) to hold the post of Indian Foreign Secretary, the head of the Indian Foreign Service. In her career she served in several capacities including, Minister of Press Affairs in Washington, Deputy Chief of Mission in Moscow, stints in the Ministry of External Affairs as Joint Secretary (East Asia), (External Publicity) making her the first woman spokesperson of the External Affairs Ministry, Chief of Personnel, Ambassador to Peru and China, and High Commissioner to Sri Lanka.

IFFCO has established itself as a true cooperative and a role model for others to emulate. To celebrate the cooperative saga IFFCO organises Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Cooperative Lecture and facilitate cooperators in India who are working for the development of Cooperatives in India.

The presentation of cooperatives awards would also take place on this occasion. IFFCO Sahakarita Ratna award will be presented to Shri Satish Marathee, President of Sahakar Bharati and IFFCO Sahakarita Bandhu award will be presented to Shri Mostafa Sardar, a cooperator from West Bengal.
