IFFCO Chairman Nakai empowered farmers: PM

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has paid tributes to the IFFCO Chairman Balvinder Singh Nakai, who died on Monday evening after a prolonged illness.

In his condolence message shared through twitter, PM wrote, “Sardar Balvinder Singh Nakai Ji was a doyen of the agriculture and cooperatives sector. He made pioneering contributions towards empowering farmers. His passing away is saddening. Condolences to his family and well-wishers. May his soul rest in peace”.

Earlier, from Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Union, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar to Union Minister of State B L Verma and others lost no time in praying tributes to the departed soul.

IFFCO organized a prayer meeting at its headquarters located in Saket on Tuesday morning, where all its top bosses including Vice Chairman Dileep Sanghani were present.

Nakai was born on December 5, 1934 in Bhatinda Punjab. He was a veteran co-operator and served cooperatives throughout his life.He was associated with IFFCO for more than 5 decades. He was a nominated Director on the Board of IFFCO during October 28, 1977 to February 11, 1981 representing Punjab Markfed, Chandigarh.
