IFFCO: Becoming Director in the Board

One of the newly elected IFFCO delegates who got elected from the South India wrote a mail to Indian Cooperative to find out procedure of becoming a Director in yet-to-be constituted Board of IFFCO. Our desk forwarded the same to Dr G N Saxena wondering if he could throw some light on the issue. Dr Saxena was kind enough to guide Mr Cahandran and several of our other readers like him. We publish the same verbatim-question of Mr Ramchandran and the response of Dr Saxena for benefits of readers-Editor

Dear Sir

I am an elected Delegates to IFFCO RGB., from Tamil Nadu.

I want to know the process of selecting the board directors this time around as I have heard there will be no nominated directors from the apex federations of the States. I want to know if all the 21 directors out of 30 will be elected from among the delegates.

Please clarify so that I may participated in the elections

Rgds
Rama Chandran

Dr G N Saxena, Director IFFCO responds:

Dear Rama Chandran Ji,

Greetings from IFFCO !!

First of all I extend a very warm welcome to elite family of the Representative General Body (RGB) of IFFCO – the highest policy and decision making body of IFFCO!

Yes, this is correct that as per IFFCO Bye-Laws which are proposed by the RGB and registered by the Central Registrar in accordance with the Multi State Cooperative Societies Act- 2002, all the 21 Directors, including the Directors from Federations, will all be elected. Presently, there are thirty Directors on IFFCO Board.

As per the present composition of IFFCO Board, 11directors are elected by the member cooperative societies, 10 directors from member Federations, 7 Functional Directors including Managing Director and two coopted directors. Since you are elected from member societies in Tamil Nadu, you can compete for one position of director from the constituency of South Zone.

The details of various constituencies made for the purpose of elections of directors can be had from the State Marketing Manager, Tamil Nadu. Though, very shortly you will receive an official communication from Shri R. D. Aggrarwala, Senior Advocate & Returning Officer, IFFCO who has been retained by IFFCO Board to conduct these elections.

We once again welcome you to IFFCO and hope that you will add value to IFFCO through your quality participation motivated by cooperative values and principles.

Thanks and warm Regards,

Gopal N. Saxena,

Director (Cooperative Development),

Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO),

IFFCO Sadan, Saket, New Delhi
