IFFCO: 10th IUCF comes to an end; host Kandla declared winner

IFFCO’s 10th Inter Unit Cultural Festival came to an end Wednesday evening at its Kandla Township auditorium with the host unit-Kandla declared the winner. The dais was almost overrun by boisterous participants as soon as the name of Kandla was announced by MD Dr U S Awasthi. Music and masti (fun) suffused the festival ground.

IFFCO’s Head office and Marketing, one of the six participants was adjudged the best disciplined and most coordinated team by the judges, which was announce by Dr Awasthi at the finale.

The evening which encapsulated both entertainment and social messages saw several participants bagging awards for their performance. Master Satyam Upadhyaya from HO-Mkt team was selected as the Best Male Child Performer and Baby Vanshika Aggarwal from Kalol Unit was selected as the Best Girl Child Performer.

Some of the most professionally conducted programs which won the hearts of those present included Garba by Kandla unit, drama on Kabir by Head office, Ganesh Vandana, a show on Surat coaching tragedy, duet singing by Kalol unit, etc. Rajasthani song and dance presented on the occasion were also applauded widely.

Besides the judges, MD himself noted the merit of each and every performance patiently while they were being displayed on the stage. He congratulated them later in his speech on the occasion.

The evening also revealed why IFFCO is held numero uno of cooperatives not only in India but also in the world. The bonhomie and the team spirit visible at the Udaynagar Club Auditorium, was aptly expressed when the MD said “we have not named it cultural competition rather it is our cultural festival.” The F of IUCF stands for festival.

Stressing the need to find expressions for one’s deep-seated desire, the MD said we are mostly spent on our humdrum existence with the pressure of the office work at the top of our minds. Such cultural events help us experience a catharsis, he added congratulating the host Kandla for organizing the show so successfully.

The MD was so touched by the Kandla unit’s successful management of the event that he broke the mould when he got flower bouquets from nowhere and offered them to the team leader P V Narayana and his wife.

Matching the mood, the audience also welcomed the MD and his wife in a manner which can only be seen to be believed. Offering standing ovation, the audience stood on their feet and switched on the lights of their mobile phone, presenting a thrilling spectacle. They were also celebrating the couples’ 49th marriage anniversary which incidentally fell on Wednesday.

The exercise of choosing the host of the next IUCF in 2021 was also no less interesting with Dr Awasthi asking the gathering to indicate their choice by raising hands. There were supporters of Paradeep, Aonla and Phulpur in the audience but Phulpur’s supporters predominated the audience.
