From Punjab to UP, IFFCO MD lends ears to farmers

IFFCO MD Dr US Awasthi with his team is having a whirlwind of tours across the country. He was in remote areas of Punjab covering Abohar and Ganganagar, last week and on Thursday he was in Lucknow interacting with farmers, cooperators and political leaders.

Lucknow happens to be Awasthi’s 106th destination-19 more locations still remain to be covered before he fulfills the promise he had made to himself a year ago when the idea germinated in his mind. “Today IFFCO’s Farmers’ Connect Campaign is in Lucknow. #Lucknow is 106th destination #IFFCO farmer & cooperative meet #50yearsofIFFCO”, MD tweeted.

Before embarking on the tour of Uttar Pradesh, he covered several locations in Punjab- Chandigarh, Jalandhar, Patiala, Abohar and Ganganagar. The MD was very happy to receive Sandip Jakhar, son of late Surendra Jakhar at Abohar. The MD tweeted to say ”we are dedicating Abohar visit to Surendra Jakhar.”

He also exhorted farmers to connect themselves with IFFCO’s Bajar and motivated them to be part of the food-chain system.

In Uttar Pradesh before Lucknow, the IFFCO team visited several destinations including Daulatpur Sitapur, Chapartala and Lakhimpur(Khiri). A large number of farmers came to hear the IFFCO team at different locations with women dominating the gathering. Issues like bio-fertilizer, cashless transactions, Iffco-Bajar, promotion of local culture through dance-music were constant themes in all these meetings.

Leading local politicians including MLAs, MPs also came to meet the IFFCO team and congratulated them for doing exemplary services for the farmers. Ajay Mishra Tani, MP of Kedi, Rajesh Verma, MP of Sitapur and several other MLAs came to his program at different places.

A progressive farmer Ramsaran Verma came to see him in Daulatpur. Verma also addressed the media in Sitapur and said he has met more than 1.5 lakh farmers and heard their problems.
