Farmers First: Ministers hail IFFCO’s DAP-NPK rate cuts

Cutting across party lines, Ministers, co-operators and farmers have hailed IFFCO’s rate cuts of non-urea fertilizer. In a bid to give relief to the farmers, the fertilizer behemoth slashed the rates of different fertilizers by 6-8 percent recently. The new retail prices have come into effect from 10th July 2019.

IFFCO has reduced the retail price of DAP by about 7.1 percent, or Rs 100 per 50 Kg bag. Now it costs Rs 1300 from the previous rate of Rs 1400 a bag.

The price of NPK-II complex (12-32-16) has been slashed by 8.36 per cent, or Rs 115 per bag, to Rs 1,260 from the previous Rs 1,375 per bag.

The price of NP complex (20-20-0-13) has been reduced by Rs 65 per bag, or 6.1 per cent. The new retail price of NP complex is now Rs 1,000 per 50 kg bag, compared to Rs 1,065 per bag earlier.

“It is not the first time that IFFCO has given relief to the farmers across the country. From time to time cooperative organization has slashed price of Urea and non-urea fertilizers for the benefits of the farmers”, claimed a top official of the co-op titan.

“In 2016, IFFCO slashed the rates of DAP by Rs 35 per bag. On several occasions IFFCO reduced prices, at times even taking hits on its coffers”, he recalled

Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Minister Mukut Bihari Verma and Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi have praised the efforts of IFFCO in slashing rates.

Verma wrote on his twitter wall, “Prompted by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the cooperative department, IFFCO has reduced the rates of DAP fertilizers by Rs 100 per 50 kg bag. Now farmers will get fertilizer at affordable rates”.

In his tweet Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi wrote, “In the interest of farmers, during the sowing in kharif season the leading cooperative organization IFFCO has reduced the DAP fertilizer by Rs 100. We are thankful to IFFCO for this move”, he said.

According to media reports, the price cut is influenced by the availability of ample stocks in the market and a softening trend in global prices of raw materials and manufactured fertilizers.

It is being reported that IFFCO sells plenty of fertilizer in Uttar Pradesh compared to other states.
