Crossing frontiers: IFFCO exports Nano Nitrogen to Sri Lanka

Heralding a new era in the global partnerships for cooperatives, fertilizer titan IFFCO exported the first consignment of Nano Nitrogen Liquid Fertiliser to Sri Lanka on Wednesday. The incident coincided with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inaugurating air connectivity between Kushinagar and Sri Lanka in the presence of Sri Lankan Minister Namal Rajapaksa.

Underlining the importance of the development, the IFFCO MD tweeted “Glad to share that IFFCO has taken a giant historical step by exporting 1st consignment of India made World’s 1st Nano Nitrogen Liquid Fertiliser to Sri Lanka. It’s a stepping stone for bigger global partnerships for cooperatives, fertilizers & environment-friendly agriculture.”

Sri Lankan media reports that the first consignment of 3.1 million liters of eco-friendly nano nitrogen liquid fertilizer to be brought for the Maha season this year will be brought to Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport from India tonight (19) by Sri Lankan Airlines flight UL 1156.

It is planned to bring 500,000 liters of nano nitrogen liquid fertilizer to Sri Lanka this week alone, said the Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture, Prof. Udith Jayasinghe.

The stock of liquid fertilizer brought from India tonight (19) will be distributed to farmers through Agrarian Development Centers in Ampara, Batticaloa, Trincomalee, and other districts where paddy cultivation has already commenced, the Secretary said.

Reacting to the development, the scientist behind the Nano products, Ramesh Ralaliya credited the IFFCO MD for the global outreach and said “Pleased to see that the science is serving farmers across the borders. This is an example of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat & Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. It was possible with the strong determination, support, teamwork, and leadership of Dr. U S Awasthi.”

Nano’s global outreach has broadened so far with IFFCO deciding to set up Nano plants in many other countries. IFFCO will set up a Nano Urea Liquid manufacturing plant in Argentina in partnership with Cooperar, Cooperative Confederation of Argentina & INAES.

The three entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) for the same. Earlier, IFFCO signed an MoU for the same with Brazil Cooperative, OCB IFFCO Nano Urea Liquid is a Sustainable Solution for Plant Nutrition with higher Nutrient Use Efficiency and reducing soil, water, and air pollution. Huge Impact on quality of underground water, very significant reduction of global warming with a positive impact on climate change & sustainable development.
