Balu interviews IFFCO MD; Nano comes across as a gamechanger

According to IFFCO MD Dr. Awasthi, the demand for Nano Urea liquid bottles is increasing steadily. Not only the farmers of India have shown interest in the nano urea but also of the countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Brazil, Argentina, and the Philippines.

After the successful export of IFFCO Nano Urea liquid bottles to Sri Lanka, now we are planning to provide the same to Nepal and Bhutan, said the IFFCO Managing Director while giving an interview to ICA-AP Regional director Balu Iyer last week.

Talking to the Indian Cooperative soon after the interview, Balu said “We have re-started Coop Dialogue, a six-monthly publication from November. Each issue will cover a particular topic and bring in perspectives from across the Asia Pacific region.”

“IFFCO is known for its innovation in both products and processes. The most recent example is Nano urea. The interview with Dr. Awasthi was to get his views on innovation, motivation for development of Nano urea, plans to promote and future directions”, underlined Balu.

In his interview the IFFCO MD said “In India, we will be able to replace 50 percent conventional Urea with the newly developed IFFCO Nano Urea till 2025. We are continuously creating awareness among the farmers by organizing seminars, workshops, and other means of communication about the Nano Urea”, he added.

Awasthi further said, “A 500 ml bottle of IFFCO Nano Urea Liquid will replace at least one bag of conventional Urea and it is cost-effective. The good thing about this product is that it does not require subsidies which can help the Indian Government to save a lot of money. It is very cheap in comparison to the bag of conventional urea. We are in the process of launching Nano DAP, Zinc, Copper, Sulphur in a couple of days”.

Besides, we are working on the new project of spraying the Nano Urea with the help of drones. In this regard, we are giving training to the farmers and organizing live demonstrations for them. Even GOI is also promoting this model, said IFFCO MD.

On the occasion, Awasthi also talked about the journey of IFFCO Nano Urea. “We had started working on this project three years back and did field trials on 11,000 locations. After getting enthusiastic results, we applied for other formalities. We had also done the trial on the Kashmiri apple and the results were amazing, he claimed.

“IFFCO Nano Urea Liquid will make a positive impact on the quality of underground water, significant reduction in global warming and also with an impact on climate change and sustainable development. It will also increase crop production with improved nutritional quality”, he underlined.

Awasthi said, “Since its establishment, IFFCO has been working on acquiring new technologies. With the help of technology, we are able to reduce energy consumption by more than 60 percent and water by half. Now we are trying to reduce the coal consumption and to convert the coal-based power plant”.
