UP State Co-op Union holds AGM; Verma & Awasthi participate

Addressing the 54th Annual General Meeting of the apex body co-op body of Uttar Pradesh state co-op union, cooperative minister Mukut Bihar Verma said the Yogi government is committed to empowering and strengthening the cooperative movement in the state.

Flanked by dignitaries which include the formidable MD of IFFCO, Dr U S Awasthi on the occasion, the Minister said the state govt has launched several schemes for the benefit of farmers and for doubling their income. “We are hopeful of achieving the target by 2022”, the minister said.

He said cooperatives are playing an important role in strengthening the economy of rural areas. All possible services are being offered to farmers on the agriculture related schemes, he noted. The AGM was organized last week in Lucknow.

Verma said under the Cooperative Act, the meeting of the general body of the cooperative societies is required to be held once a year but sadly this act is not being followed by many co-op bodies.

“In AGMs, people associated with cooperatives get a chance to voice their issues before the concerned authorities but several cooperatives have failed to do so. It has been noticed that there is a connection between profitability of a co-op and its commitment to organize timely AGM”, he said.

Later the Minister shared the news through social media and wrote, “Addressing the 54th annual general body meeting of Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Union Limited at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Lucknow today”.

Besides him, the meeting was also attended by IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi as a distinguished guest. Dr. Awasthi spoke on Nano Technology at length on the occasion. “IFFCO has started making Nano Fertilizer with an objective to maintain the soil health and it is more effective than the chemical urea”, Awasthi informed the gathering.

IFFCO’s Marketing Head Yogendra Kumar informed the gathering about the new products and schemes being run by IFFCO in the interest of farmers.

On the sideline of the AGM, Verma also distributed cheques to the beneficiaries of the Janata Bima Yozana and Sankat Haran Insurance Schemes of IFFCO Tokio.

On the occasion, UP Cooperative Union’s Chairman Umashankar Kushwaha, MD Manoj Diwedi and others were present.
