Vamnicom organized a national conference on recent agricultural reform in association with confederation of NGOs of Rural India (CNRI), in which Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar was the chief guest.
Themed “Research and Opportunity in Smart farming: Lessons from Recent Agriculture Reforms”, the seminar had about 300 participants drawn from various prestigious bodies active in rural uplift.
Vamnicom Director, Dr. K.K Tripathy welcomed the Chief Guest, eminent speakers and other participants before introducing the subject of the conference.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Tomar lauded the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his courage in introducing the new Acts for agri reforms. The key provisions of Agriculture reforms are to help the small and marginal farmers, Tomar said.
“Agriculture Reforms have a huge potential for collectives, cooperatives, farmers, and the rural population. Driven by the need of the hour, the conference aimed to create an understanding of the recent agriculture reforms among the nation removing recurring myths” felt Tomar.
The conference was designed to differentiate between myths and facts in recent agriculture reforms among farmers, collectives, cooperatives, and Farmer Producer Organizations, said a release from Vamnicom.
Research papers on the conference theme were also announced. Accepted papers had been presented through virtual mode. Accepted papers are selected for publication in the Cooperative Perspective Journal after conduct of a double-blind peer-review process.
The Speakers for the conference were R.G Agarwal, Chairman, FICCI committee on crop protection and Agrochemicals; Dr. Amitabh Kundu, Research and Information System; Dr H. P. Singh, Founder and Chairman Confederation of Horticulture Associations of India (CHAI); Dr Praveen Tripathy, Chairman of SANGYANA and Shri Ravindra Dharia, Board of Trustees of VANARAI.
Dr. A. R Pathak, Vice Chancellor from Junagad Agriculture University chaired the session for the virtual presentations made during the conference.
300 participants registered and 282 attended the conference. The participants were from all over the states of the country from different segments including Bureaucracy, Academia, Agriculture Scientists, Agri Input Company, Agriculture Universities, Cooperative Banks, Government Organizations, Sugar Cooperatives, Dairy Cooperatives, Farmer Producer Companies, Farmers, ICAR, ICM, Research Institutes, RICM, rural cooperatives, Vice Chancellors of University, etc.
Research papers were received from different agriculture universities, colleges and institutes. Four research papers exclusively based on the conference theme were selected for presentation at the conference.
The Conference not only resulted in building a knowledge base across the mass but also ensured an academic outcome which may lead to draw a feasible roadmap towards ensuring awareness amongst farmers, collectives and cooperatives, claimed the release.
