Dileep Sanghani, Chairman of the Task Force on Cooperatives at the PHD Chamber of Commerce, is on a cooperative study tour in the United States along with a team of 16 Cooperators connected with the Chamber. The aim of the tour is global learning and innovation for strengthening India’s cooperative movement.

In a social media post, Sanghani described the visit as an inspiring experience focused on understanding successful cooperative models, best practices and modern management systems followed in the US. The delegation visited Washington D.C. and explored various initiatives aimed at improving the functioning of cooperatives and empowering farmers.

After Washington trip, the Delegations will visit New York and a few more places. The team will come back to India on June 6 profiting from the experience gained during the trip.

Before leaving for the United States on Friday, Dileep Sanghani told this reporter at IFFCO Sadan in New Delhi that the idea of achieving prosperity through cooperatives is both innovative and transformative, and that many Western nations are still unfamiliar with its full potential.

He said the study tour would provide an opportunity for the delegation to explain how the cooperative model can drive inclusive growth and community development. Sanghani also congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for conceptualising and promoting the vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi,” describing it as a significant step towards strengthening India’s cooperative movement and empowering farmers and rural communities through collective participation.

Talking from Washington DC on WhatsApp call, Sanghani said the experience is reinforcing the belief that cooperation is not merely a system, but a strong force for collective development, self-reliance and prosperity. He noted that exposure to international models and innovative practices could help India further modernise its cooperative sector and make it more farmer-centric.

The delegation also visited important landmarks, including the United States Capitol in Washington D.C. Sanghani termed the study tour highly enlightening and said it would contribute to efforts aimed at making India’s cooperative movement more empowered, modern and globally competitive.

The visit aligns with the broader vision of strengthening cooperatives under the ‘Sahkar Se Samriddhi’ initiative and promoting knowledge-sharing between nations to improve governance, innovation and sustainability in the cooperative sector.
