Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the CPI (M) government during a public rally, accusing them of mishandling the issue of depositors’ money in cooperative banks in Kerala on Monday. He emphasized that the government had failed to fulfil its promises of returning the money to the depositors and taking action against those responsible for the fraud.
Modi asserted that his administration had taken significant steps to address the issue, including initiating investigations into the cases and attaching properties worth Rs 90 crore belonging to the scamsters through the Enforcement Directorate.
Expressing his commitment to resolving the matter, the Prime Minister stated that he is seeking legal advice on the best course of action to ensure that the depositors receive their money back.
He assured the audience that every effort would be made to return the funds to the affected depositors, reaffirming his determination to leave no stone unturned in achieving this goal.

Speaking at an election rally in Kunnamkulam, PM Modi lambasted the alleged mismanagement and financial malfeasance and said “In Kerala, the common people’s money is being brazenly plundered. The Left parties are introducing new models of corruption”. He criticized Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, alleging repeated falsehoods regarding compensation for victims and the punishment of culprits.
The PM further castigated the governance of Left-leaning states, asserting their failure to bring about positive change. “They left Bengal in shambles, misgoverned Tripura, and continued the trend in Kerala,” Modi claimed.
Promising a transformative agenda, Modi outlined key initiatives including economic growth targets, infrastructure development, and welfare programs such as PM Kisan Samman Nidhi and housing schemes for the underprivileged. He pledged free healthcare for seniors and vocational training for millions of women.
Modi also highlighted plans for bolstering railway infrastructure, emphasizing the expansion of the Vande Bharat train fleet and the ongoing Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train corridor project.
In a veiled attack on Rahul Gandhi, Modi criticized the Congress leader’s foray into Kerala politics, accusing him of seeking refuge in the state after electoral setbacks elsewhere. He also pointed to the Congress’ alliance with a group linked to banned anti-national activities to gain electoral advantage.
