The Lakshmanrao Inamdar National Academy for Cooperative Research and Development (LINAC-NCDC) has successfully concluded a five-day training programme on “Leadership and Professional Development” for officers of the Cooperation Department of the Government of Bihar.
The programme was designed to strengthen the leadership capabilities and professional competence of the participating officers while giving them practical exposure to recent developments, schemes, policies and emerging initiatives in the cooperative sector.
During the training, the officers were provided detailed information on various activities being undertaken across the cooperative sector, with particular focus on new initiatives and policy developments. The programme sought to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical implementation by exposing the participants to functioning cooperative institutions and successful field-level models.
As part of the programme, the officers undertook study visits to several major national-level cooperative institutions, including the National Cooperative Exports Limited (NCEL), National Cooperative Organics Limited (NCOL), Bharatiya Beej Sahakari Samiti Limited (BBSSL) and the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC).
The institutional visits provided the participants an opportunity to understand the functioning, management systems, activities and ongoing initiatives of these organisations. The exposure also helped the officers gain a broader perspective on the expanding role of cooperatives in areas such as exports, organic products, seeds and cooperative development.
The participants also visited the Ramgarh Ideal Multi-Purpose Primary Village Service Cooperative Society in Alwar, Rajasthan. The field visit offered practical insights into the functioning of a grassroots-level cooperative and its management practices, activities and service delivery. It also enabled the officers to observe a successful cooperative model at the village level.
Alongside the training and study visits, a cultural tour was organised in Jaipur, allowing the participants to visit prominent historical and cultural sites. The cultural component added an experiential dimension to the five-day programme.
The programme combined classroom-based learning, institutional exposure, field visits and cultural engagement to provide a comprehensive learning experience for the Bihar officers.
The training is expected to help the participating officers enhance their leadership skills, professional capabilities and understanding of the rapidly evolving cooperative sector. The exposure to national cooperative institutions and successful grassroots models also provided them with practical insights that can be applied in their respective areas of work in Bihar.
