Kerala’s BJP Co-op Cell head confesses taking bribe
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Revelations about Kerala BJP cooperative cell’s head R.S.Vinod taking a bribe of Rs. 5.60 crore in lieu of obtaining MCI’s recognition for a private medical college have set tongues wagging in the country. The issue has even exercised the country’s Parliamentarians who have said the scam may have wider ramifications.

The Kerala CPM has gone so far as to say that the BJP leaders in the state are using their party’s government at the center to make benefits.

Political analysts say the scandal is bound to dent impeccable credentials of Modi’s party in general.

According to the report, the amount was paid to a Delhi based middleman through a hawala dealer near Kochi.

Meanwhile, the Kerala BJP’s two member probe committee has also confirmed that the party’s cooperative cell convener has admitted to having received an amount of Rs. 5.60 crore. The tainted leader R.S.Vinod has been expelled from the party.

BJP’s National functionaries including National Secretary in Charge of Kerala are slated to attend the state party meeting in Trivandrum amid reports of infighting and allegations of corruption against a member.

Sources in the BJP say the central party leadership has not taken kindly to the allegations of corruption leveled against the party members in Kerala. An investigation into the allegations is likely either by the party leadership or by the Central government machinery, sources said.
