In a major event for India’s cooperative sector, Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) is set to hold its 55th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on May 25, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The mega gathering is expected to bring together cooperative leaders, farmers’ representatives and stakeholders from across the country.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah is expected to participate in the AGM as the Chief Guest, according to IFFCO Chairman Dileep Sanghani. Sanghani expressed optimism over Shah’s participation and described him as the “Polar Star” of the cooperative movement for his efforts in strengthening India’s cooperative ecosystem and expanding the role of cooperatives in rural development.

The AGM is expected to witness participation from nearly 1,500 delegates representing cooperative societies from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. More than 1,000 elected representatives from IFFCO’s member societies, along with dignitaries, policymakers and sector experts, are likely to attend the meeting, which will begin at 11 am.

IFFCO has already dispatched formal AGM notices and related documents to member delegates, while preparations are underway to ensure smooth conduct of the event. Senior officials of the cooperative major are overseeing arrangements for logistics, delegate management and exhibition activities.

A major highlight of this year’s AGM will be a large-scale exhibition showcasing the activities and achievements of IFFCO’s subsidiaries and joint ventures. These include IFFCO Tokio General Insurance, IFFCO Kisan, Indian Farm Forestry Development Cooperative (IFFDC) and CORDET.

The exhibition will also feature national-level multi-State cooperative institutions such as Bharatiya Beej Sahakari Samiti Limited (BBSSL) and National Cooperative Exports Limited (NCEL), reflecting the growing integration of cooperatives into sectors ranging from insurance and agri-services to exports and seed development.

The AGM proceedings will be broadcast live for IFFCO’s nearly 35,600 member cooperative societies across the country, enabling wider participation in the deliberations. The annual meeting is expected to review the organization’s financial performance, cooperative outreach initiatives and future expansion plans.

Another key attraction of the event will be the presentation of the prestigious Sahakarita Ratna and Sahakarita Bandhu awards during the AGM proceedings. The awards recognise outstanding contributions to the cooperative movement and rural development.

Founded in 1967, IFFCO has emerged as one of the world’s largest fertilizer cooperatives and remains a central institution in India’s agricultural and cooperative landscape. The upcoming AGM is expected to reaffirm the organization’s commitment to farmer welfare, cooperative growth and rural prosperity.
