Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel felicitated IFFCO Chairman Dileep Sanghani at a grand ceremony held in Gandhinagar on Sunday, celebrating his election as a Director of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), the global apex body representing cooperatives from 108 countries.
Sanghani secured a decisive majority in the election held in Panama, marking a significant achievement for India’s cooperative movement and enhancing Gujarat’s presence on the global cooperative platform.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Patel described Sanghani’s achievement as a moment of pride for every Gujarati. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India had created a favourable environment for its representatives to achieve recognition and success on international platforms.
The Chief Minister also praised Sanghani’s nearly five-decade-long contribution to society and the cooperative sector, spanning 1978 to 2026.
He credited Sanghani’s leadership and administrative capabilities for IFFCO’s remarkable progress over the past four years. Patel also appreciated Sanghani’s joint family of 42 members, saying its values reflected India’s traditional philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanghani expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Patel and the people of Gujarat for the warm felicitation. He described his election to the ICA Board as recognition of India’s strong cooperative movement rather than merely a personal achievement. He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening India’s representation in international cooperative affairs and promoting cooperation among nations.
Several prominent political, cooperative and business leaders attended the ceremony, including Rajkot MP Parshottam Rupala, Jagdish Vishwakarma, former MP and Annapurna Dham President Narhari Amin, former minister Vallabh Kakadiya and Prashant Korat.
Representatives of the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), Ahmedabad Builders Association, Samast Patidar Samaj, the Dyestuffs Association and various cooperative and social organisations also attended and congratulated Sanghani on his international achievement.
