GSCU hosts Seminar emphasizing Women’s Empowerment

On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2024, the Gujarat State Co-operative Union, Ahmedabad, organized a landmark State Level Women Co-operative Seminar under the theme “Inspire Women’s Inclusion.” Held at Tagore Hall, Paldi, Ahmedabad on Monday, March 4th, the event drew participation from around 1100 women representatives from various Co-operative Credit Societies across the state.

Presided over by Shri Ghanshyambhai Amin, Chairman of Gujarat State Co-operative Union, the seminar aimed to underscore the crucial role of women in co-operative activities for economic empowerment. Esteemed guests including Ms. Pratibhabem Jain, Mayor of Ahmedabad, highlighted the significance of women’s progress and empowerment, urging them to stride confidently into diverse fields of their interest.

Ms. Bijalben Patel, Ex-Mayor of Ahmedabad, commended the efforts of the Gujarat State Co-operative Union in organizing the seminar, emphasizing gender equality and acknowledging the proactive measures undertaken by Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi to uplift women through various schemes and initiatives.

Shri Ghanshyambhai Amin, in his address, emphasized the cooperative platform as a catalyst for economic growth and empowerment. He lauded the government’s commitment to co-operative development, citing the establishment of a dedicated Ministry of Co-operation under Shri Amitbhai Shah’s leadership.

Highlighting recent policy amendments aimed at enhancing women’s representation in co-operative institutions, Shri Amin outlined the impact of initiatives such as the Nandini Sahakar Scheme, which has significantly benefited women co-operatives.

The seminar featured sessions led by experts on topics ranging from economic earnings and women empowerment in the co-operative sector to social media awareness. Dr. Rajendra Trivedi, Executive Officer of Gujarat State Co-operative Union, presented the seminar’s schedule, while Ms. Bhavnaben Jadeja, Chairperson of the women cooperative committee, extended a warm welcome to all attendees.

The event, anchored by Shri A. K. Rawal, witnessed enthusiastic participation from women delegates representing various co-operative credit societies. Their engagement underscored the importance of such initiatives in fostering women’s empowerment and economic independence.
