Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam District Cooperative Central Bank (DCCB) has reported an impressive financial performance in FY 2025-26, with its net profit rising from Rs 1.60 crore to Rs 3.58 crore, registering a growth of nearly 124 percent.
The sharp increase in profitability was largely driven by the strong growth in the bank’s gold loan business.
Speaking to Indian Cooperative, the bank’s CEO D.V.S. Varma said that the DCCB performed well during FY 2025-26 and recorded healthy growth in both business and profits.
“Our gold loan portfolio, which was earlier around Rs 350 crore, increased to Rs 584 crore as on March 31, 2026. It has now crossed Rs 600 crore, and we are planning to achieve Rs 700 crore by the end of the current financial year,” he said.
Varma attributed the growth to rising gold prices and increasing demand for gold loans, particularly among middle-class households. He noted that families in South India traditionally maintain substantial quantities of gold ornaments, which are often leveraged to meet financial requirements.
The bank currently operates 32 branches, including 16 branches in Visakhapatnam city, and has a total business mix of around Rs 2,850 crore.
Varma further said that Visakhapatnam DCCB, one of the 13 District Cooperative Central Banks (DCCBs) in Andhra Pradesh, has strengthened its technology infrastructure through UPI services and the TCS Core Banking Solution (CBS) platform, enhancing customer convenience and operational efficiency.
Meanwhile, the bank’s Person-in-Charge Kona Tatarao said that Visakhapatnam DCCB continues to redefine excellence in cooperative banking through its strong financial performance and steadfast commitment to rural empowerment. He expressed confidence that the bank would continue its growth trajectory while expanding financial services across its area of operation.
