Amul has been ranked the World’s Strongest Dairy Brand in the latest Brand Finance Food & Drink 2026 study, marking another major milestone for India’s iconic dairy cooperative brand. The ranking evaluates the world’s leading food, non-alcoholic beverage and dairy brands on their value and strength.
Amul’s brand value has risen 22 per cent to USD 5 billion, while its Brand Strength Index (BSI) score stands at 93.0 out of 100, earning it an AAA+ brand strength rating. The brand has also secured the second position among the world’s strongest food brands, fourth among the most valuable dairy brands and 13th among the most valuable food brands globally. It is the only Indian brand to feature among the Top 50 global food brands.
The recognition is significant for the cooperative movement as Amul’s growth is closely linked with millions of dairy farmers who form the foundation of its business model. Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets Amul products, has 18 member unions, around 18,600 village milk cooperative societies and 3.64 million producer members. It procures an average of about 32 million litres of milk daily.
Amul’s achievements have also been reflected in its financial expansion. GCMMF recorded a turnover of Rs 65,911 crore in 2024-25, up from Rs 59,545 crore in 2023-24. The federation has built a wide product portfolio covering milk, ghee, butter, cheese, paneer, ice cream, chocolates, traditional sweets and several other food categories.
The cooperative has simultaneously expanded its international presence. Amul products are exported to more than 50 countries, while recent initiatives have included fresh milk sales in the United States and expansion into Spain and Portugal through international cooperative partnerships. Amul has described this global expansion as part of its effort to take the farmer-owned cooperative model and Indian dairy products to consumers worldwide.
The latest Brand Finance recognition builds on Amul’s earlier global achievements. Brand Finance had also recognised Amul as the world’s strongest food and dairy brand in its 2024 assessment. The continuing strength of the brand has been attributed to consumer trust, product quality, innovation, competitive pricing and the distinctive cooperative model linking farmers directly with markets.
The latest honour therefore represents more than a branding achievement for Amul. It highlights the global reach of India’s cooperative dairy model and the ability of a farmer-owned enterprise to build a powerful consumer brand while creating economic value for its producer members.
