Cooperative Week celebrations began across India on Monday, with national cooperative federations, state cooperative departments, district central cooperative banks (DCCBs), urban cooperative banks and primary cooperative societies launching a series of programmes to promote the cooperative movement under the theme “Sahkar Se Samriddhi.”
The nationwide observance, being held from June 29 to July 6, coincides with the International Day of Cooperatives and marks five years of the Ministry of Cooperation. Across the country, cooperative institutions are organising seminars, awareness campaigns, training programmes, blood donation camps, plantation drives and community outreach initiatives highlighting the sector’s contribution to inclusive socio-economic development.
Leading the celebrations, the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) is inaugurating the week with “Shubharambh & Pratigya Diwas” at its headquarters, where members will reaffirm their commitment to cooperative values and principles. The week-long programme includes thematic events dedicated to youth, women, farmers, innovation and cooperative governance.
The National Federation of Urban Cooperative Banks and Credit Societies Ltd. (NAFCUB) has also lined up a series of knowledge-sharing initiatives during Cooperative Week. As part of the celebrations, it is organising a webinar today titled “Cooperative Awareness Campaign – Stay Vigilant, Stay Secure,” focusing on cyber security, digital fraud prevention and customer awareness for Urban Cooperative Banks.
Meanwhile, the National Urban Cooperative Finance and Development Corporation (NUCFDC) has scheduled a special webinar on July 1 titled “The Next Five Years of Cooperation: Vision for a Stronger Cooperative Movement.”
The session will feature Satish Marathe, Director on the Central Board of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), who will share his perspective on the future roadmap for cooperative banking, governance reforms, member value and strengthening public trust in Urban Cooperative Banks.
The celebrations are expected to witness active participation from cooperative institutions across the country, reaffirming the government’s vision of making cooperatives a stronger pillar of India’s development journey under the motto “Sahkar Se Samriddhi.”
