Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah will lay the foundation stone of a new dairy plant at the Alwar Saras Dairy Complex in Rajasthan on August 16, marking a major push to strengthen the state’s cooperative dairy infrastructure and expand economic opportunities for farmers and milk producers.
The foundation stone ceremony will be held at Vijay Nagar Ground, Alwar, where Shah will also e-inaugurate dairy processing plants and cattle feed plants set up by various milk unions. The initiatives are being undertaken in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sahkar se Samriddhi”, with the government seeking to make cooperative institutions more modern, efficient and self-reliant.
The programme will also see the e-foundation stone laying and e-inauguration of development projects worth Rs 6,262 crore spread across 17 districts of Rajasthan. The scale of the projects is expected to give a broader boost to rural infrastructure and development across the state.
Shah will announce the formation of new Central Cooperative Banks during the event, further expanding the institutional network available to rural communities and farmers. He will also remotely transfer financial assistance to beneficiaries of welfare schemes through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
The beneficiaries will include farmers covered under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, providing direct financial support through the government’s digital transfer mechanism.
Another major highlight will be the distribution of appointment letters to 10,548 newly appointed personnel under the Rozgar Utsav, adding an employment dimension to the large-scale development programme.
The new dairy plant at the Alwar Saras Dairy Complex, along with the processing and cattle feed plants being commissioned by milk unions, is expected to enhance the processing and production capacity of Rajasthan’s dairy cooperative sector. Increased processing infrastructure can provide milk producers with better market opportunities while strengthening the value chain connecting farmers, cooperatives and consumers.
The initiative is also expected to contribute to the rural economy by creating opportunities for value addition, improving dairy infrastructure and strengthening cooperative institutions at the grassroots level.
The programme reflects the Centre’s broader emphasis on using cooperation as a means of improving farmers’ incomes and building economically stronger rural communities. By expanding dairy processing capacity and institutional support, the government aims to make cooperatives a stronger pillar of rural economic development under the “Sahkar se Samriddhi” framework.
