ULCC: CM kept his words, inaugurated celebrations

As promised the Chief Minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated ULCC’s 92nd anniversary function on 4th February. Kozhikode based Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society celebrated its anniversary ending yesterday late night amidst much fanfare and gaiety, informed S Shaju , Secretary of ULCC on phone.

“There is nerve-wrecking noise and I cannot hear you; yes indeed the CM had come, Shaju could barely make himself audible.” I would send you the detailed report along with the photographs, he promised.

The cooperative launched with 14 members with an initial investment of 37 paise in 1925 in Vadakara in Kozhikode district.

ULCC has also plan to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Kerala Atmavidya Sangham. Several cultural programmes are slated for two days, reads an invite mailed by the famed labour cooperative.

Tucked away in the southern part of the country ULCC is exploiting cooperative concept to the hilt. Whether you are on a high way or in hi-tech park, your eyes can not miss the ubiquitous presence of this construction cooperative.

Considering the performances of the Society the State Government is treating society as an “Accredited Agency” to undertake works directly without tender procedure. The works under Special Development Fund for MLAs are also undertaken directly without tender procedure. Tourism Department has also approved it as the execution agency. What a clout! And all based on twin principles of integrity and quality-which underline the execution of all its projects.

Most of the Local Self Govts (Panchayat Raj Institutions) have identified ULCCS as the reliable partner for entrusting the development of roads and other facilities at the village level.

The projects belong to the Public Works Department under the District Flagship Infrastructure Project (DFIP) for National Highways and Road and Bridges. And in addition, the cooperative will do several highway construction projects.

It got inaugurated its prestigious venture in software ULCC Cyber Park at the hands of none less than the President of India Mr Pranab Mukerjee. ULCC plans to export IT solutions to US and Europe through its IT arm eyeing a turnover of Rs 500 crore in the next five years.
