Swachhta Hi Sewa: Co-ops join in cleanliness drive across states

Lending support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa Campaign’, co-operators and cooperatives across the country took part in the cleanliness drive on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

NCUI President Dileepbhai Sanghani was ahead in making the campaign a success. Sharing photos through Facebook, he wrote, “On the call of the respected Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi, today we engage ourselves in the 1-hour Shramdaan for cleanliness, collectively with officers and employees at Gandhinagar based Gujcomasol headquarters’ ‘.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah also participated in the campaign and was seen actively sweeping streets along with his fellow leaders. Later on, he shared photos through social media.

The consumer cooperative- NCCF Managing Director Ms Anice Joseph also participated in the campaign. In one of the tweets, the official ‘X’ handle of NCCF wrote, “NCCF’s Managing Director and Employees join hands for ‘Swachata hi Seva’ campaign, making a cleaner and greener future together”.

The apex body of dairy cooperatives-NCDFI also celebrated Swachhata Pakhwada under the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign on 1st October 2023. As part of the celebrations, a cleanliness drive was carried out throughout the NCDFI premises.

The officials of Union Ministry of Cooperation and the Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies Vijay Kumar also participated in the campaign. They took the pledge to make India clean. “Swachta Hi Seva Hai Ka Sankalp’, on the call of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, a cleanliness campaign was conducted in the office of the Ministry of Cooperation. The ministry employees contributed to the cleanliness campaign”, the MoC post on ‘X’ reads.

Pune’s prestigious cooperative institute- Vamnicom was also active in the drive and observed the Swachhata Abhiyaan for the ‘EK Tareekh, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath Initiative’. The students, staff, faculties of Vamnicom participated actively in Swachhata Abhiyan conducted by Vamnicom.

Under the leadership of the Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Gram Vikas Bank, the cleanliness program was organized under the ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa campaign.

Besides, Jammu & Kashmir Commissioner Secretary Cooperatives, Ms Yasha Mudgal participated in Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2023 cleanliness drive at Cooperative Complex Bantalab Jammu and said that cleanliness is not just a duty; it’s a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s vision for a clean and self-reliant India.

The Mumbai based Fishery Survey of India organized a special Swachhata Drive at Mangrol Fishing Harbour, with the help of Shri Mahavir Fisheries Cooperative Society Ltd, Mangrol and Department of Fisheries, Mangrol.

Many PACS and district central cooperative banks across the country were also involved in the cleanliness drive and engaged themselves in sweeping streets.
