NCDC-NAFSCOB MoU bears fruit; LINAC launches online training

To give further boost to the MoU between NCDC and National Federation of State Cooperative Banks Ltd (NAFSCOB), the dedicated training academy for cooperatives, the Laxmanrao Inamdar National Academy for Cooperative Research and Development (LINAC) launched a five-day online training programme on Project Formulation and Appraisal Techniques Monday.

The training program, fully financed by NCDC under its promotional scheme, is meant for the executives of NAFSCOB, State Cooperative Banks and District Central Cooperative Banks. Executives from State Cooperative Banks of Nagaland, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and Goa attended the first in the series of training programs.

Bhima Subrahmanyam, Managing Director, NAFSCOB inaugurated the maiden training programme. He said that such programs aim to benefit the State Cooperative Bank employees. Such virtual training programs are the need of the hour amidst Covid-19 pandemic.

Bhima added, “The training includes combination of online classes comprising of lectures, discussions and case studies to transfer learning,”

Col Bikramjit Singh, Chief Director of LINAC said that during the session, the participants would be trained on various aspects of the project appraisal ranging from screening of projects, formulating a project, understanding project cycle and project proposal and different elements related. He added that this was the first training program under NCDC MoU with NAFSCOB.

Singh said that, fully funded by NCDC and operating out of a sprawling campus in the national capital region, LINAC, in its journey since 1985, had trained more than 31,000 persons from cooperatives societies.  LINAC, being part of NCDC, is an ISO 9001:2015 certified organization.

It bears recall that last year in May, NCDC and Nafscob had signed an MoU aimed at developing the cooperative banking sector. MoU was signed by then NAFSCOB Chairman Dileep Sanghani and Sundeep Nayak, MD of NCDC.

Under this MoU both the parties had mutually agreed to assist the cooperative banking sector through advancement of systems development and technology development through various means including setting up of new mechanisms.
