IFFCO’s IKSEZ inks pact with CRWC

Nellore based IFFCO subsidiary IKSEZ has inked a pact with the subsidiary of Central Warehousing Corporation (CRWC) to develop integrated Railside warehouse complex and freight terminal.

Breaking the news IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi tweeted”Congratulations @iksez for an agreement vid #CRWC 2 develop Integrated Railside Warehouse Complex & Freight Terminal.”

Readers would note that IFFCO is developing an Agro based SEZ known as IFFCO Kisan SEZ (IKSEZ) through its wholly owned subsidiary at Nellore in Andhra Pradesh. IKSEZ is an Agribusiness Special Economic Zone based on the concept of Integrated Agropark.

It has facility for setting up a Railway Siding aimed at empowering farmers by developing a “Farmer Owned – Farmer Managed” SEZ with state of the art infrastructure facilities catering primarily to the food processing industry and housing global manufacturing majors, reads its website.

To expedite the progress of works at IKSEZ Dr U S Awasthi, the Managing Director of IFFCO had gone to meet the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Chandra Babu Naidu as soon as he was anointed CM.

Readers would also recall IFFCO Kisan SEZ (IKSEZ) land got stuck-up in court since Feb, 2012 due to a litigation pending before the Andhra Pradesh High Court. The case was argued in the High Court and IKSEZ won the case after a long legal battle.

Surmounting all bottle-necks IKSEZ has now joined hands with CRWC. Ministry of Railways and Central Warehousing Corporation had jointly taken up the job of developing warehousing complexes near railway terminals through a new company named Central Railside Warehouse Company that aims to provide better service through total logistic solution to rail users.
