The country’s two most powerful and influential personalities one hailing from politics and the other from the cooperative movement met recently. IFFCO Managing Director Dr U S Awasthi met the Prime Minister Narendra Modi one on one Tuesday at latter’s Race Course residence in the capital.
Among other things, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and IFFCO MD Dr.U.S.Awasthi exchanged views on the cooperative movement in general and the role of the IFFCO in the context of food security and soil rejuvenation in particular.
Prime minister Modi expressed his strong admiration for the fertiliser colossus IFFCO and its praiseworthy performance as a leading source of fertilisers to farmers in the country.
Immensely impressed by the persona of Modi, Dr.Awasthi had words of praise for Modi. His tweet described him humble, dynamic , inspiring and innovative. Dr Awasthi tweets “ The aura of @narendramodi ji glides you along with him. Indeed a dynamic, simple, humble & quite inspiring #leader. An innovator & motivator.”
Dr.Awasthi discussed issues such as direct transfer of subsidy to farmers, Jan Dhan Yozana, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and social forestry as well. He tweets “ Disc. #JanDhan, #IFFCO social #forestry #farmer dev. & #SwachhBharat. Very upbeat & happy after meeting the visionary PM @narendramodi Ji.”
Calling him a visionary Prime Minister IFFCO MD also briefed him on the perils of excessive use of urea. In his tweet Awasthi say “ Also informed PM about the excess use of #urea and how it’s affecting our #soils. #NBS is the need of the hour to save soil and inc. prod.”
Managing Director of the largest farmers cooperative did not miss to mention the positive role being played by IFFCO. Also its role in Food Security and Soil Rejuvenation came up for discussion in the high-profile meeting. Later he tweeted “ Explained @narendramodi Ji abt #IFFCO’s efforts in promoting Green Manure, #Compost & #Soiltesting in fields 4 good yield & better soil health.”
More than a billion people have pinned their hopes on Modi today.If a top-notch cooperator gives him full marks, it augurs well not only for the cooperative movement but also for the country.
