Many dairy cooperatives from across the country have set up their stalls at the International Dairy Federation’s World Summit (12th September to 15th September), which is going on at India Expo Centre & Mart, in Greater Noida, witnessing a huge crowd.

The dairy cooperative giants including Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing federation (Amul), Karnataka Cooperative Milk Producers Federation Limited (Nandini), Bihar State Milk Co-Operative Federation (Sudha) Jharkhand Milk Federation Cooperative (Medha) and other state level dairy co-ops have set up their stalls at the Summit.

On the second day of the event, Indian Cooperative correspondent Rohit Gupta visited several stalls and talked with their representatives. He found stalls to be excellent and forthcoming with information about their organizations and products. Out of a total 27 state level milk federations, over 10 are showcasing their products and asking visitors to taste them once.

Talking to Indian Cooperative, the officials from Punjab State Cooperative Milk Producers Federation (Verka) said, “Our stall is becoming the biggest crowd puller. Onlookers are taking interest in our activities and products, which we are making”.

In an interaction with this correspondent, Medha Managing Director Sudhir Kumar Singh said, “We are getting good feedback from the crowd. People are asking us to open an outlet in Delhi also. With our dairy federation, over 38k farmers are associated out of which 30 percent are women”.

Another representative from Kerala Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (MILMA) Dr Ahmeda informed about several initiatives undertaken by the dairy federation and the onlookers’ response. Our products are a center of attraction. We have also introduced eight types of Ayurvedic Veterinary Medicines, which are a big hit among the dairy farmers of Kerala”.

On this occasion, Indian Cooperative also learnt that people were asking about Lumpy skin diseases in cattle and precautions taken by state level dairy federations to protect cattle from diseases.

There are over 223 district milk unions across the country.

It bears recalling that the IDF was inaugurated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday and it has been attended by many ministers including Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister of Chemicals & Fertilizers Mansukhbhai Mandaviya and others.
