In a significant leadership change, Ashok Chaudhary of Dudhsagar Dairy, Mehsana, has been elected unopposed as the new Chairman of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), the apex body marketing the iconic brand Amul.
Alongside Chaudhary, Gordhan Dhameliya of Rajkot-based Gopal Dairy was unanimously elected as the new Vice-Chairman of GCMMF. He replaces Valamji Humbal in this role.
The election was held on Tuesday in the presence of heads of all 18 member cooperative milk unions of Gujarat.
Chaudhary succeeds Shamalbhai Patel, under whose leadership the federation witnessed consistent growth and expansion.
GCMMF is the world’s largest farmer-owned dairy cooperative, representing 3.6 million dairy farmers across Gujarat. With an annual milk handling capacity exceeding 12 billion litres, the federation commands a group turnover of over $11 billion (approx. Rs 90,000 crore).
The election marks a new chapter in the leadership of GCMMF, which continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening the dairy cooperative movement in India.
