Fighting off middleman: Vamnicom organizes training on fish-marketing

Marketing of fish and fish products are as big a challenge as the marketing agri produce. Farmers get little while the middle men make most of it. Realizing this Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management (VAMNICOM), Pune organized a three day workshop for those associated with the marketing of fish and fish products.

In a mail sent by the premier institute, it said “National Workshop on Marketing of Fish and Fish Products” was organized with sponsorship of National Fisheries Development Board, Hyderabad.

The National Federation of Fishers Cooperatives (Fishcopfed) was also a collaborator, said the press release. Dr. D. Mahal, was the Workshop Director.

The Program was inaugurated by M. S. Dhakad, IFS, Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh Matsya Mahasangh Maryadit, Bhopal, Ramdas P. Sandhe Vice– Chairman, National Federation of Fishers Cooperatives, New Delhi, Dr. K.K. Tripathy, IES, Director, VAMNICOM, Pune.

More that forty participants from the state of Andaman & Nicobar Island, Kerala, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Telangana attended the programme.

The program came out with important recommendations in the area of Inland & Marine Fishery Cooperative sector.
