Chandra Pal leads delegation to Prez

A delegation of cooperative leaders led by the President of National Cooperative Union of India Dr Chandra Pal Singh Yadav met the President Pratibha Devisingh Patil to request her to inaugurate the Indian Cooperative Congress slated sometime in April-May.

President Mrs Patil is believed to have given her consent and dates are being worked out. Indian Cooperative Congress is going to be a mega event in which participation by top notch cooperative leaders are expected.

NCUI, the apex body of cooperatives in the country is leading the preparations  for the event in the wake of United Nations declaring year 2012 as the International Year of Cooperatives.

The delegation which went to meet the President comprised of Kribhco Chairman V R Patel, Fishcofed Chairman Prakash Lonare, MD B K Mishra, Housing Cooperative MD M L Khurana and others.

The President Mrs Pratibha Devisingh Patil has herself been a cooperative leader with impressive track record in the field of  women empowerment through cooperatives.

She was also on the Board of NCUI during the tenure of  Savai Singh Sisodia.
