Budget: IFFCO MD welcomes reform in urea policy

awasthi Dr U S Awsthi the Managing Director of the largest farmers’ cooperative IFFCO says there are many elements in the Union Budget 2014 presented by the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in the Parliament on Thursday which would go a long way in improving the farm sector.

As the budget presentation progressed on Thursday, the MD, who is regarded as an expert in the matters related to farming sector, kept on firing his reactions through the fastest mode of social media- the twitter.

Dr. U S Awasthi also appreciated the provision of rural internet with lots of enthusiasm. @drusawasthi) tweeted “Welcome the national rural internet and tech mission to connect rural india with the globe”.

In another tweet Dr. U S Awasthi underlined the impact of the announcement of setting up of Kisan TV. (@drusawasthi) tweeted “Kisan TV is a positive step will bring many issues to the forefront like the direct transfer of subsidy, soil health”.

On urea policy the crisp tweet read “Talk of reform Of #urea policy in #budget2014 is good hope govt walks the talk and help the Fert industry and farmer of India.

Last but not the least Dr. U S Awasthi welcomed the budgetary provisions for warehousing by tweeting (@drusawasthi) “The mention of boosting warehousing and infrastructure in agri will help save the produce of farmers, #coops can play a big role in this.

Managing Director of IFFCO is a Chemical Engineer and a fertiliser industry veteran with over 4 decades of experience in the sector. He has also chaired IFA and FAI in the past.
