35th AGM: Fishcopfed nets profit again

Fishcopfed, the apex cooperative federation for the fishermen held its 35th AGM in its N Delhi office on Monday. The AGM was a huge success in terms of participation of delegates from across the states.

Talking to Indian Cooperative Fishcopfed Chairman said that for the first time we have delegates from across the cities such as Chennai, Tripura, Meghalay, Andhra etc. A beaming Chairman announced a profit of Rs 1.3 crore for the financial year 2012-13.

We have continuously increased our membership. Also the number of nominal membership has gone up from 200 to 5000, informed the Chairman Shri Prakash Marotrao Lonare.

We have planned to set up two more offices one in Patna and another in Mumbai. We had long session with the Joint Secretary Raja Shekhar Vundru on the issue of enhancing the social security net for the fishermen, Mr Lonare added.

It is since two and a half years that I took over as the Chairman. I have tried with the help of Board members and Managing Director B K Mishra to introduce modernization and high-tech in the cooperative federations, now it is up to you all to feel the difference, a confident Chairman asserted.

Talking on the future plan B K Mishra, the Managing Director of Fishcopfed said that we have to maintain a growth rate of 20 per cent till the 2020. We are happy but not satisfied. We have to hit higher numbers, added Mr Mishra.

But he also demanded greater support from the government. We have a unique data bank and we want more schemes from the government. Fishcopfed is planning to energize its marketing mechanism and we also plan to hire cold-storage in near future. JS Vundru was kind enough to lend his support in this bid, said the Managing Director Mr Mishra.
