What is common in IFFCO, Amul and Sahakar Bharati

The public image of cooperative, frankly speaking, is barely worth talking about. They are believed to be slow and careless in their responses. But some of the cooperative organizations stand out as honorable exceptions to this rule.

Indian Cooperative had earlier recorded its experience with two co-op giants IFFCO and AMUL in two separate stories on how fast they respond to public queries. Here is the third example of Sahakar Bharati.

Before going to the present case of Sahakar Bharati let us recount the earlier experiences with IFFCO and Amul. It would help us understand why they are successful.

R Ramachandran from Coimbatore made a query on contesting IFFCO elections. We forwarded the same to IFFCO which took up the matter in earnest. Lending him all helps IFFCO ensured he contested the election. Ramachandra offered a heroic though unsuccessful fight in a democratic spirit.

Seeing his enthusiasm IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi later got him inducted in one of the important committees IFFCO Kisan Seva Trust. The story could be accessed by clicking following link

The story of Amul is no less interesting. We titled the story “Amul: MD responds to consumer complaint”. It tells what happened when we forwarded a mail written by one of our readers Saptarshi Deb from a remote district of Assam on the issue of over-charging by a Amul vendor.

R S Sodhi, Managing Director of GCMMF took it up seriously and thereafter began a series of mails zeroing in on the problem in less than 24 hours. The story could be read by clicking following link

The third experience of Indian Cooperative is with Sahakar Bharati whose Patron and President Satish Marathe and Jyotindra Mehta respectively responded so promptly that we thought it fit to discuss the event for the benefit of other cooperatives which can take a leaf out of their book.

The story is self-evident. One of our readers wrote a letter related to Sahakar Bharati which we forwarded to the two senior most leaders and they responded in no time.
