That the cooperative is an important tool of development became once again obvious during the budgetary presentations by the Railway Minister on Tuesday in the Parliament.
Union minister Sadananda Gowda while presenting his first Rail Budget in the Lok Sabha said that we aim to facilitate transport of milk through rail. Special milk transportation trains in association with Amul and National Dairy Association Board would be mooted, he added.
Amul the leading dairy cooperative of the country has had several experiences with the milk transportations with its operation having widened to several states.
Talking to Indian Cooperative GCMMF Managing Director R S Sodhi expressed happiness at the mentioning of Amul during the budget presentation and promised to lend all the support in making milk transportation through railway a hassle-free and smooth exercise. “It signals opening up of a new age and would help farmers and consumers as well”, Sodhi added.
