High Court raps MILMA

A division bench of the Kerala High Court has asked Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation aka  Milma to remove the words ”fresh and pure” from its products as they contain milk with powder added to it.

The High Court gave this ruling while hearing a public interest litigation accusing the manufacturer of cheating consumers.

The Milma established in 1980 as part of ”operation flood” is a state owned outfit. It has nearly three thousand milk cooperative societies affiliated to it with just shy of a million farmers as members.

MILMA sells high quality milk and a variety of milk-based products and drinks. It is patterned on the Amul model.
